Let Us March Together on Saturday to Celebrate!

by jbennett@nycosh.org

Let us march together on Saturday, September 9, to celebrate our success!

At last, the federal, state and city governments are all beginning to acknowledge that tens of thousands of workers, volunteers and others have been made sick by 9/11-related contamination and they must have access to monitoring, screening and healthcare.

It has been a long hard struggle, and it is far from over, but we -- occupational and environmental safety and health advocates, unions and workers -- have a lot to celebrate this week.

We invite all those who have joined and supported the struggle to make a public display of our determination to see this effort through to the end, and to ensure that there will never be a repeat of the World Trade Center and Katrina public health catastrophes.

Please, march with the Mount Sinai-Irving J. Selikoff Center for Occupational and Environmental Medicine and NYCOSH in the labor parade on Saturday, September 9.

Our safety and health contingent will be gathering on East 44th Street between Fifth and Madison beginning at 10:30. We’ll be stepping off at 11:00 to march up Fifth Avenue to 72nd Street.

Optional RSVP to jbennett@nycosh.org is requested.

Can't make it to NYC Saturday? Send a solidarity message that we can carry.
