This fall, the Red Monkey Theater Group (RMTG), will present an original stage adaptation of Fyodor Dostoevsky's timeless novel, The Brothers Karamazov, by RMTG company member Carolyn Fuchs.
Directed by Tal Aviezer, The Brothers Karamazov will be performed thru October 29 at the Mazer Theater, 197 E. Broadway (between Jefferson and Clinton) in Manhattan. Friday and Saturday performances will be at 8:00pm, and Sunday performances will be at 2:00pm. Call (914) 693-1646 or visit www.redmonkeytheater.org for tickets.
The company is thrilled to present this powerful new dramatization of the Russian master's story of three brothers coming to terms with themselves and each other in a world filled with powerful and often opposing desires. The group was recently awarded an Arts Alive Grant from the Westchester Arts Council in support of Ms. Fuchs' adaptation.
Founded in 1999, The Red Monkey Theatre Group (RMTG) is a non-profit performing arts company dedicated to enriching local communities through the cultivation, creation and presentation of live theater.
The Mazer Theatre, located in the main building of The Educational Alliance, has been home to performances, ceremonies, and community gatherings for over 100 years. Luminaries who have tread its boards include Sholom Aleichem, Eddie Cantor and Mark Twain, who in 1907 praised The Alliance's Children's Theater in the legendary Brooklyn Daily Eagle.
