New Month At Stanton Street

by Yori Yanover

While Muslims around the globe are concluding their Ramadan fast today, another nation which also determines much of its calendar by the cycles of the moon held celebrations today (and will repeat them tomorrow), marking the new Jewish month.

At Stanton Street things were exceptionally lively this morning, with more than 20 men and some five women congregated to sing praise, pray and hear the Torah reading for this day. It’s called Rosh Chodesh (Lit. Head of the Month), and, much like the Ramadan, it is celebrated with some sweet munching. Except Jews get to pour out the bourbon…

Daily morning prayer at Stanton Street go from 6:45 to 7:30 AM. 180 Stanton Street, bet. Clinton and Attorney. 212.533.4122

Who is that guy in the fourth picture. He looks kind of like an older JFK, if JFK wore tefillin.

I think JFK is overreaching. That is Saba -- In fact Ezra and Maya confirmed. Joshua disagreed and insisted it was Egroeg abas - but no one listens to him. No one realizes that he actually speaks is a secret code that is easy to decode.
