Rabbi Stone's Traveling Sukkah

by Yori Yanover

Coming down East Broadway was a pickup SUV with a Sukkah in the back, with table and chair and rolled up kosher roofing. It was driven by our local Lubavitcher, Rabbi Israel Stone, who was playing pleasant Jewish music, accompanied by a taped explanation on what a Sukkah is. Most Sukkahs are temporary structures inside which Jews eat and sometimes even sleep, weather permitting, during the holiday of Sukkot. The pickup truck thing is a Lubavitch invention, in the spirit of bringing the mountain to Muhammad on those occasions when Muhammad is not ready to go to the mountain. Happy holiday!
